The proposition, "The King of France is bald," for example, would be true if there were a King of France who is bald. We will explore this theme in rnuch greater detail in Chapter 6, but for the moment it should be stressed that Deleuze and Guattari reject a purely extensional approach to the concept, and propose instead an alternative. Their reasoning is as follows: Confusing concept and proposition produces a beHef in the existence of scientific concepts and a view of the proposition as a genuine 'intension' (what the sentence expresses).
